Letter to Senior Parents & Students May 3rd

Good evening, JCHS Parents and Guardians,

Congratulations to each of you as we have all made it to the final week of high school for your senior(s) at Jefferson City High School.  I am sure the emotions are running high, and seeing the organized events below will help in bringing you some peace.  

For the week of May 4th through May 9th, the following events will be occurring.  Events are in order by date.

Senior Finals will be held on Monday, May 4th and Tuesday, May 5th.  Please ensure your child is here at school on those days to complete all necessary testing before final grades are submitted.

Senior March will be held Wednesday, May 6th. Seniors will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m. for the Senior March and Senior Bell Ringing tradition.  Students and staff will cheer the seniors through the hallways as they follow the drumline throughout the building.  Students will exit through the Union Street doors to Adkins Stadium for graduation practice (weather permitting).  Following the practice, we will have our Senior Bell Ringing tradition.  Parents are welcome to attend the bell ringing at the stadium.

Graduation Practice will occur promptly after the Senior March. Practice will take place at Adkins Stadium (weather permitting).  Once practice is over, seniors are dismissed UNLESS they are finishing up AP Exams.  

JCHS Graduation is on Friday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony will take place at Adkins Stadium, weather permitting.  The stadium will open at 6:15 p.m. for seating, please plan accordingly. 

In the event of inclement weather, we will share information by 3:00 p.m. on Friday (the day of graduation) if we have to move graduation indoors.  If the graduation ceremony is moved inside, tickets will be needed for entry into the event.  Every senior will receive six tickets and seniors can pick up the tickets starting Monday May 4th at 8:00 a.m. in the JCHS Main Office.  Parents or guardians may pick up the tickets but must have an ID and are listed as a contact on Infinite Campus.

Parking at Adkins Stadium:

  • Parking is available on the adjacent streets as well as student and faculty parking lots located throughout the campus.
  • The handicapped entry is located between the Weber Center and the eastern side of the stadium.

Seating at Adkins Stadium:

  • General entry will be located at the main entrance to Adkins stadium.
  • Handicapped seating is located on the concourse - directly in front of the concession stands.
  • There will be plenty of seating for everyone, but please do not sit in any area designated as reserved in the stadium.

During the Ceremony:

  • Do not block stairs or pathways.
  • Please be considerate of others when using umbrellas; it is important for everyone to see their graduate.
  • The JCHS Graduation Ceremony is a formal occasion; please honor our graduates by treating it as such.
  • Please be considerate of others as you move about in the stadium.
  • Each graduate is special to each of us; so please be considerate as their names are called and they are recognized.
  • Parents and guests ARE NOT allowed on the field during the ceremony.

After the ceremony:

  • The stadium field will be available for pictures and celebration with your graduate after the ceremony has concluded.
  • All graduates must pick up their diploma after the ceremony; they will be located at the corner entrance of the stadium on the visitor side - closest to Union Street.  Counselors will be distributing diplomas in alphabetical order. Students who have outstanding fees will not receive their diploma until the fees have been paid. 
  • If a student rented a cap and/or gown, it will need to be returned after the ceremony in order to receive your diploma.

Class of 2026  Project Graduation
Who: 2026 JCHS Graduates
When: May 8, 9:00 pm to May 9, 2:00 am
Where: The Linc, 1299 Lafayette Street

Project Graduation is an event created to promote a safe, supervised, alcohol- and drug-free evening for our graduates. It is held overnight after the commencement ceremony. There will be food, drinks, entertainment, games & prizes! All graduates will get a prize!
Graduates must be in the Linc 45 mins after Grad Cap Toss! Giving plenty of time for pictures with family & friends! Students must be registered to attend Project Graduation. Registration is available in the Senior Google Classroom, or click on the link below. The deadline to register is May 6th.  Project Graduation Registration Link

*No Re-entry: Graduates who choose to leave prior to 2:00 a.m. will not be permitted back into the building. No guests are allowed to this event. Parents are permitted only by signing up to volunteer. Seniors will register themselves via a Google form that they will access in the Class of 2026 Google Classroom or in their school email.

Class of 2026 Tech To-Do List:
Before May 6th seniors should do the following:

  • Bring their Chromebook to the Tech Center to have either Mrs. Davis or Mr. Chris verify the asset tag on their device.
  • Save any files that are on their Google Drive to an external hard drive or flash drive.  These files will not be accessible after the Chromebook has been released by the District.
  • If students do not want to keep their Chromebook, or are not eligible to keep it, please return the Chromebook and charger to the Tech Center by May 6th.
  • Seniors taking AP exams should not wipe their chromebooks until after their last AP exam.  All AP test takers will have their school email active until after the last day of AP testing so they can access AP classroom and Bluebook.

Painted Parking Spaces
Students who painted their parking spaces must have their spaces painted over with BLACK water-based latex flat paint ONLY before graduation.  If the spaces are not painted over by May 7th, a $50 fine will be added to the student’s fine and fees. 

Senior Tips:

  • This year students are allowed to decorate their graduation caps.  All caps MUST be SCHOOL APPROPRIATE and CANNOT bring negative attention to themselves, Jefferson City High School, or the Class of 2026.  Caps will be checked prior to the student procession starting.  If a cap is inappropriate in nature, the cap will be taken and the student will be given a plain cap to wear for the ceremony.
  • Caps and Gowns are required for the graduation ceremony.  If your child does not have a cap and gown, they can rent them from the JCHS Main Office.  Gowns are $10 and Caps are $10.00.  When they are returned, students will be reimbursed the same amount of money. 
  • Continue to monitor your student's grades; most are in classes required for graduation.  Any student that does not meet their full graduation requirements by 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6th will not be allowed to walk at the graduation ceremony. Any student that is not able to walk will be notified by an administrator and counselor by Thursday, May 7th.   
  • Check your student's fines and fees; it will ensure you can pick up your diploma without delay after the ceremony (ask them to show you on their Chromebook).
  • The seating chart will be made available in the students graduation google classroom and on the senior page of the counseling website by the end of the day on Thursday, May 7.  Please check your seat location.

Letter to Senior Parents & Students April 26th

Good evening, JCHS Parents and Guardians,

As I shared with you a couple of weeks ago, I will be sending out a Sunday evening email about what to expect for the upcoming week.  For the week of April 26th through May 3rd, the following events will be occurring. This week’s information is pretty extensive, so please read carefully, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. 

Awards:
Jay Pride Award Night is scheduled for Monday April 27th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Fleming Fieldhouse.  Students received their invitations at school. Parents should have received an invitation in the mail ahead of time if your child will be receiving an award or recognition.  

Senior Field Day:
The Fleming Frenzy is sponsoring a Senior Field Day on Friday, May 1st.  The event will run from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the grassy area beside the football field.  Holy Smokes and Kona Ice will be available for students, as well as lots of games and activities for students to have a great afternoon of fun.  Students will be given two $5 coupons for the food trucks…additional money may be required.

Prom:
Ticket sales for prom will begin on Monday, April 27th through Friday, May 1st. Tickets are $20.00 and will be sold before school, after school, and at lunch. Prom will be held on Saturday, May 2nd beginning at 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.  Prom is being held at the Memorial Park Pavilion.  Reminder students must have 90% attendance, and all fines and fees must be paid in order to purchase a ticket.

Baccalaureate:
Baccalaureate will be held on Sunday, May 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Miller Performing Arts Center.  Students must arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. to begin lining up for the program.  Attendance is voluntary as it is a farewell address in the form of a sermon delivered to the graduation class. This is a combined event with Capital City High School. 

Students must:
Wear their cap and gown
Tassels are worn on the right side of the cap. No flowers, corsages, or purses should be worn or carried during the ceremony.
Must arrive by 1:30 p.m. to line up. 

Senior Lunch Accounts:
If your student has money remaining on their lunch account at the end of the school year, and you would like to transfer the balance to another student account or receive a refund of the balance, please email: bobbi.enslen@jcschools.us with your request. This should be done as soon as possible after school is out.  Any funds left on graduate accounts as of October 1, 2026 will automatically be transferred to an "Angel Account," and used for other students in need.  

Painted Parking Spaces:

JCHS Parents and Guardians,

As I shared with you this past week, I will be sending out a Sunday evening email about what to expect for the upcoming week.  For the week of April 20th through April 26th, the following events will be occurring.  Events are in order by date.

Awards:
JCHS Common Scholarship Luncheon is scheduled for April 23rd from 11:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m. at Capital City Productions. Students were notified after returning from spring break if they were chosen by a scholarship committee as a recipient.  Due to limited space and cost, parents and guardians are unable to attend.  Please be aware that students will receive a detailed letter after the banquet that outlines the scholarship(s) they were awarded, and contact information for those scholarships. The JCHS Counseling Office does not oversee distribution of scholarship money.  It is highly recommended that the letter is placed in a safe place for reference regarding whom to contact if questions arise about a scholarship.  Also, please note that scholarship monies are typically sent directly to a student's college account in late July.

Project Graduation Information:
The JCHS Project Graduation activities will begin immediately following the graduation ceremony, located at the Linc. It is a no-cost, tobacco - alcohol - and drug-free celebration with entertainment, games and food for each attendee. Grads may take pictures after graduation and arrive by 45 minutes after the Hat Toss! Once Grads enter they are not allowed to leave and return.  Grads must be registered for this activity! Project Graduation registration will be available in Google Classroom from April 22 until May 6! Any parents who wish to volunteer for the evening, a “sign up” registration will be available next week! 

Senior Tips:
Caps and Gowns are required for the graduation ceremony.  They are available for sale on Jostens website.  Please call with questions about a cap and gown.  If you have a cap and gown, take the gown out of the packaging now!  We recommend hanging in a bathroom that has a steamy shower for the wrinkles to release.

Letter to Senior Parents & Students 4/12/26

If you are receiving this email, you are the parent or guardian of a senior who will be graduating in a short time from Jefferson City High School. Whether this is your first senior to graduate, or you have had several, the last few weeks can be very overwhelming for you and your senior. In order to alleviate some stress, and keep you well informed, I will be sending a weekly Sunday email about what to expect for the next week starting Sunday, April 19th.

Each week, I will share any upcoming events/meetings that may be occurring that week and the following week.  Please read through the information, process it, reflect on it, write down questions you may have, and then remind yourself of four things: 
Be Informed, Be Prepared, Be Positive, and Enjoy Every Moment On This Journey.

The information we are providing below is organized in categories for what to expect as a parent/guardian, and as a senior, for the remaining weeks of school.  The information below is a short overview of events.  Again, each week, I will give more detail about each event. 

Senior Meeting:
Is scheduled for Wednesday April 22nd at 8:00 a.m. in the Fleming Fieldhouse.  This is a mandatory meeting for all seniors regarding their graduation and final senior tasks to complete prior to graduation.  The Union Street doors will be open at 7:50 a.m. on the morning of the 22nd for early entry into the building. The presentation will be linked on the JCHS Website counseling senior information page after the meeting for reference.

Senior’s Last Day:  May 6, 2026

Baccalaureate is on Sunday, May 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Miller Performing Arts Center.  This ceremony will be combined with Capital City High School. This is a non-denominational event that will feature a local minister, Ben Schnipper

JCHS Graduation is on Friday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony will take place at Adkins Stadium, weather permitting.  More information on seating, parking, before/after the ceremony information and tickets (if needed) to follow in the next couple of weeks. 

Caps and Gowns are required for the graduation ceremony.  They are available for sale on Jostens website.  JCHS does have caps and gowns to rent if needed.  Please call with questions about a cap and gown. 

Senior Field Day is a celebration for seniors on Friday May 1st from 12 - 2:00 pm.  This is a student-led event by Fleming Frenzy where students can enjoy games, social time, and food from local vendors on the practice football field.

  • Monitor your student's grades; most are in classes required for graduation.  Any student that does not meet their full graduation requirements by the end of the school day on Tuesday, May 6th, meaning all finals, papers, projects, E2020 coursework and any assignments due must be completed and given to the teacher for grading by the end of the school day on Tuesday, will not be allowed to walk at the graduation ceremony. Any student that is not able to walk will be notified by an administrator and/or counselor by Thursday, May 7th by 1:00 pm. 

 

  • Check your student's fines and fees; it will ensure you can pick up your diploma without delay after the ceremony (Ask them to show you on their Chromebook).

 

  • Take the gown out of the packaging now!  We recommend hanging in a bathroom that has a steamy shower for the wrinkles to release. 

 

  • Make sure you check the weather for the day, and help your student dress appropriately; the gowns can make them hot, and any humidity will make their discomfort worse.

 

  • Make sure your student wears shoes that will not challenge them in moving from the track, to the field turf, to the stage, and down the stairs.

 

  • Remind your students that only chords directly given by the school (program chords) are allowed; no other non-school-related decorations or regalia are allowed unless previously approved by JCHS Administration.
     
  • When in doubt - give us a call!

Seniors--Save the Date for the mandatory senior meeting on Wednesday, April 22nd at 8:00 a.m. in the gym.

Senior Intentions

Please complete your senior intentions survey (this tells our counseling office where you would like your final transcript mailed).  The deadline to complete is May 1st.  If you change where you want your final transcript sent after graduation, please complete the transcript request form on the school counseling webpage.
