The Annual Variety Show co-hosted by JCHS Choirs and Student Council is on Wednesday, April 29th at 7 pm at the Miller Center. We need you to show off your talents by signing up to perform. We are open to all kinds of talents: music, dance, drama, poetry, storytelling, pogo stick routines, magic, stand-up comedy, etc.

The boys golf team won the Moberly Tournament today making it a back to back championship.
Hunter Hovis placed first winning the championship with a score of 74
Bubba McGraw was 4 with a score of 77
Doug Lachowicz was 6th with a score of 79
Clayton Harris placed 22nd a score of 87
And Zack Harris placed 30th with a score of 90

Yesterday was A GREAT DAY TO BE A JAY! Our track teams showed out yesterday in Adkins Stadium - they had 124 Personal Bests or Season's Best! Girls' team is on their way to Springfield. Boys travel to Springfield tomorrow.

We will resume freshman mandatory tutoring this week on Tuesday and Thursday. Please let the secretaries in the front main office know by 1:00 if you need the activity bus.
"A huge congratulations goes out to our JCHS Choir members who participated in the MSHSAA central district contest last Saturday! This year a whopping TWENTY THREE singing Jays received gold ratings, and will advance to the State competition next month!"
The Scholar Bowl team took 2nd place out of 22 teams at the OMAR tournament over the break. Senior Ben Markway was in the top 10 individual scorers for the tournament. This win qualifies the team to attend the Scholar Bowl National tournament in Atlanta in May.

Congratulations to Jefferson City High School Student Council for being awarded the Missouri
Association of Student Councils Honor Council Gold Award. The award is presented for providing an atmosphere where our Student Council has played a vital role in our school.
Our Lady Jays and Jays Track teams are hosting Capital City and Hannibal in a Tri-Meet this afternoon. Field events start at 4, running events, 4:30.
Our annual students vs. staff basketball game is on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in Fleming Fieldhouse. Come to watch some of your favorite teachers take on students of every grade in both competitive and comedic games. Admission is $3 and Jay Cafe will be open for drinks and snacks!
This Thursday is the Candidate Meeting for the 2026-27 Student Council. Come to get information and paper work about running for a Student Body Office, a Class Office, or applying to be a committee head. Choose which meeting time works best for you: Thursday morning at 8:15 or Thursday after school at 3:45 in Mrs. McKee's room, 233.

Students that took the Accuplacer on Friday last week can pick up their scores in counseling.
JCHS Spanish and French students attended a world language competition yesterday at the University of Central Missouri, competing in reading, writing, listening, speaking, vocabulary, and grammar competitions. French took home 7 first place medals, 5 second place medals, 8 third place medals, and won second place in the poster competition. When all of the medals were combined, JCHS French took 3rd place overall in the competition. Spanish took home 6 first place medals, 2 second place medals, 4 third place medals, and won first place in the poster competition.

Our Speech and Debate Team was at it again this past weekend at their National Qualifiers. After the competition was over, the team qualified 10 students to the National Tournament this summer in Richmond, Virginia! Huge congratulations to Birdie Forck, Alissa Smith, Harrison Lane, Townes Baker, Isaiah Migogo, Shamar Heywood, Ava Kersten, Sophia Wormington, Danisha Knox, and Malani Morris! We are proud of you!
We would also like to recognize two of our staff members: Mr. Zach Lovelace for being recognized as the districts Assistant Coach of the Year and Mr. Quentin Trull for being recognized as the districts New Coach of the Year! Congratulations!

Just a reminder for students to use the crosswalk when crossing Lafayette (or any street). The crosswalks are placed where traffic coming from both directions can see pedestrians, and should yield. Students not using crosswalks run the risk of being struck by oncoming traffic. (Being a Jay is cool, jaywalking is dangerous and illegal.)
Seniors–All Departmental Seal of Excellence recipients will be posted in the cafeteria and in the department hallways tomorrow morning. Please check for your name if you believe you should be receiving that award. If your name is not there, please reach out to that department by Monday, March 16th. A major congratulations goes to our Speech and Debate Team. This past weekend, they were named the 2026 Speech Team District Champions, qualifying a record-setting 27 events to the State Tournament in April. We also had TEN students named DISTRICT CHAMPIONS in their events. A special congratulations to:

"We are thrilled to celebrate our incredible choir students for their outstanding performance at Monday's MSHSAA Large Group Contest. Chorale and Cantus both received "Exemplary" Ratings, and Bella Voce received "Outstanding". Chorale is particularly proud to have received a "perfect" Gold, meaning they received the highest score from every judge in every category! Congrats to all choir members for representing JCHS with excellence!"
